May the 4s be with you!

It's Monday night, or "Poker Night's Eve" as I prefer to think of it, and thanks to the bank holiday I can make up for being unable to find time to send an email last week. By penning a long, rambling one this week while sampling Green Devil IPA 6% mind-bender in the Red Lion.

Thanks to Chris C for the social game on Saturday. Getting home at 4.30 am is about all I can remember of the latter stages. I seemed to have about the same amount of cash in my wallet the next day, so I'm guessing I might have pulled a rabbit out of the hat right at the end, again. I remember winning the first hand with pocket aces, and the second by flopping a straight holding 2 4 off-suit, but from 2am onwards it's a bit of a blur.

The Friday night three-hander in the Horse I remember very well though, probably as I seemed to hit that rare combination of playing well and getting good cards. The hand of the night was one of those odd coincidences that have to be seen to be believed. Phil had KQ hearts in his hand and KQ on the board. During the chat before the deal I happened to mention my growing fondness for J9. The river was a 10, and, well, you can probably guess the rest.

Back to the league, and four weeks in Joe is dominating the table with 2 wins from 4 games and an average score of 115! The other wins are shared between Bee in second place and Steve in 6th who now has 14 tournament wins under his belt.

Help packing the tables away is always welcome. However, the blue table that seems to be the most popular, has been folded the wrong way again which means it's now on its last legs. Please note that this table should be folded with the felt on the outside. Without a bag, the table is likely to pick up some grot, so when new tables arrive, please be careful with the bags as they don't seem to be designed to yanked about.

Replacement tables should start to arrive in a couple of weeks. If anyone would like a table that gets replaced, please let me know.

Cheers,

Matty B.
