Quick update - July 23

Meanwhile, over in Longstanton, Simon King has smashed the 1,000 point mark and enjoys a slightly greater lead. As Steve and Joe both have averages in Longstanton of over 100 points, perhaps some sort of points versus averages playoff should decide the ultimate champion this season…

We've all been there. The betting gets heavy and keeps getting heavier, and in the end one of the last two standing folds, the winner takes the pot and no-one knows what two cards won the pot. The desire to know who had what is strong when this happens and often the table will suddenly open up with speculative talk and sometimes the players will reveal what they had, and sometimes the temptation to know what the winning player had leads the dealer to sneak a peek at the cards as they are gathered up after the hand is over.

Having recently mentioned that this would this week's ettiqette reminder, it seems I'm not the only one to have noticed this happen, and there seems to be numerous peekers out there.

And the moral of the story is… if it's your deal and the winner takes the pot without having to show, please make sure you keep their hand hidden and stuff their cards into the pack before handing them on.

Cheers,

Mat.
