The long Summer season ends with two new Champions.

The first game of the season a the White Horse in Oakington was won by Joe who went on to finish on the final table more often than not to keep the first place position all the way through to three weeks form the end, but a run of bad results in August and early September allowed Clive Teulon to rally with results 3rd, 2nd and then 1st place before the last game of the season. Joe had a final chance for glory, which was improved when Clive left the game in 14th place, but Joe's Championship chase ended with an 8th place, which meant an over position of 2nd, with Matty B in 3rd.

This year saw the first full 25 game season outside Oakington, and although the Thursday night event usually attracts a smaller number of regular players, there is a loyal following building, and with a large space to play in, and a different bunch of players, the tournaments tend to have a different feel.

The season looked as though it was all over by the end of July as Simon King had amassed seemingly unassailable lead. However, has was not seen behind his usual chip mountain for the last 8 games and ultimately finished in 5th place.

With 4 wins under his belt, Darren Shone also looked like a contender, along with Chris Cormack, Michael Stoner, and Phil Bradley who looked particularly strong after back to back wins in August. At the start of the very last game there were only 5 players and it looked as though it was not quite technically possible for second placed Michael to catch Phil. CPP regular of old Beej was drafted in to help the odds, as did Phil's 5th place exit form the game. No one was sure what the final score would be if Michael went on to win the game. He did just that, beating Terry Highfield in a head-to-head the lasted quite a few games. I had the honour of clicking the link to update the results and announce that the season had been won by just one point, by Phil, with Michael having to console himself with highest average.

After all the recent excitement, this week's games are non-league. The format is the same, but you can sit where you like and there are no league points awarded - just cash.

Not everyone can make it to all 25 games each season, so to even the old proverbial playing field, only 22 of the 25 games will count from now on. If you do play more than 22 games, you simply disregard one or more of your lowest scores.

In most cases this should mean a maximum difference of 30 points across a whole season.
