Your Oakington Winter 2011/12
Champion is Milo!

In the end it was the outside long shot who mounted the best challenge. Out of a field of 25 Rich finished 20th and Joe 12th which meant that all Miles needed to do was make it to the final table to guarantee victory.

With around 20,000 in chips and 9 players remaining, you'd think it was all over, but for some reason Milo thought pocket 8s was a good enough hand to push. Unfortunately for him Bee's flush-chase was as successful as it was determined, which meant Miles finished in 9th position leaving Michael Stoner with shot at the championship.

Toe finished 8th, then Daz in 7th, followed by Keith, Bee, and then Colin. Beej had his best result for a while and took his money back finishing 3rd, leaving Michael and Steve heads up with similar mountains of green chips.

The blinds were high and the action fast, but in the end fortune favoured Steve, who gained a few places to finish the championship in 4th place with the most wins, (4) and the highest average only having played 19 games to Miles' 23. Michael leaped a number of players to finish second overall.

It looked like it was all over. Daz had convincingly won the 6-game "Back to the Black Bull" season with the most points, most wins and highest average. However, as there is now going to be an extra game on Thursday March 29, Phil Bradley and Michael could mount a challenge. Daz's record on his home turf is pretty good though, and I wouldn't bet against him, (as long as someone tells him about the game of course!)

I get to leave my laptop at home next Tuesday. There will be a game at the White Horse on Tuesday April 3, but it won't be a league game and won't show on the website. I might even play more than 3 hands!
